Our story

We became custodians of 16-acre Myrtle Wood - part of a larger ancient woodland - in March 2020. Since then we have been busy clearing and improving access tracks, controlling rhododendron and reintroducing the traditional rural crafts of coppicing and charcoal making.

Wildlife

Bee foraging a wood anemone

We share Myrtle Wood with all sorts of creatures and critters - including foxes, deer, woodpeckers, buzzards, owls, beetles and bees.

Flora

One of the best displays of bluebells in the area

First come the primrose and wood anemone - then celandine, bluebell, dog violet, honeysuckle and foxglove.
